I just bought a VW Westy & I need advice on repairing rust. I'm new to classic cars!?
I purchased this van needing a lot done and I have high hopes of myself. It does have quite a few rust spots & I am new to classic cars so I am looking for some advice on removing and preventing further rust etc. and any tips on what to do.
Thank you!

Coarse sanding around the affected area twice the size of the rust area will expose any further damage and give a decent bond area. Only use filler materials such as bondo to get a smooth surface. If it is really bad, you might want to get some new metal welded on. Or you can take it to a professional depending on the time you want to invest.
