It's only original once. If I were you, I would keep it original.

We have a 1963 Nova SS and was considering upgrading to a V8. After thinking about it a bit we decided to keep the original 6 as the the car is worth more with matching numbers. IMHO I'd stick with the original stuff. Our Chevy 11 still has the six in it as well and people are more interested in it as it only has the six not a big shinny V8. we get compiments on it keeping it original. Just my opinion good luck!

If it was me, I would take out the six and save all the parts so you could put it back to original later on.

It really depends on which direction your really trying to go with it in the long run, but in my personal opinion I pretty much would agree with the "grumpyoldrat" on that one.Ofcourse I would also document EVERYTHING about the original before storing it in a climate controlled place wrapped in cellophane.
