I COULD USE SOME HELPI GETTING MY 1940 FORD FLATHEAD RUNNING THE MOTOR HAS BEEN TOTALLY REBUILT A WHILE BACK IT HAS BEEN STARTED SINCE REBUILD BUT NOW I CAN NOT GET ANY SPARK FROM THE POINTS I HAVE POWER TO THE COIL I HAVE POWER TO THE CONTACT AND I HAVE POWER TO THE POINT CONTACT BUT I CAN NOT GET A SPARK FROM THE POINTS I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH THE 6 VOLT SYSTEM AND I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE CONVERTED 12 VOLT SYSTEM I HAVE EVEN PUT ON A COIL PLATE ON TOP OF THE DISTRIBUTOR AND RUN A EXTERNAL COIL AND STILL THE SAME PROBLEM.,,,,IS THERE ANY BODY IN THE COLUMBUS OHIO AREA THAT WOULD BE WILLING TO HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM..I AM WILLING TO PAY FOR HELP AS LONG AS MY PROBLEM IS REMEDIED..........PLEASE RESPOND BY THIS MESSAGE SYSTEM OR PLEASE CALL ME AT 614-496-5796....THANK YOU ??????...TOM

Basics.. Go to negative terminal on coil and measure dwell angle while cranking engine. It ought to be around 20 to 30 degrees. If no dwell meter is available. put voltmeter (+) probe on negative coil terminal, and (-) on to the engine block. On 12 volt scale the needle should vibrate with engine cranking. This indicates the points are opening & closing. If no result buy a new condenser and point set, and check wiring. This is simple stuff.

check condenser my john deere died when condenser vibrated loose ,be sure to use condenser for right voltage and polarity. 6 volt FORDS were pos ground .12 volt changed to neg ground.both sets of points need proper gap to run right
