Diagram for how the back plate is suppose to go on a 1967 Pontiac GTO with the 400 Cubic Inch Motor
Been having issues with motor heating up to about 210 and I've changed the radiator, termastat (180F) but when I put the plate in I think I might have installed it incorrectly. Theres also been a winding sound...sounds like a gear drive after the car has been running for a while and I cannot pin point where this is coming from. There is no water in the oil and it doesn't heat up right away....running on the road for 10 miles then it starts heating up and will not go down. I've also changed the clutch fan as well.
PLEASE, PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!!

if memory serves me right it will only go in one way or the impeller from the pump will hit.there are two round holes that require donut like seals betweenplate and timing cover to keep the water flowing to the block.without them in place the water will not flow properly.
