I recently purchased a 61 belair and I need to "car dolly" it home I seem to remember, though that this car has a split driveshaft with a carrier bearing in the middle. Am I accurate and when you remove the shaft to tow...do I have to pull both front and rear halves or just the rear? Common sense would say just the rear, and this car was built when there was common sense, but I was just trying to cover the 1% uncertainty. Thanks...

Remove the rear drive half. If the carrieer bearing is good you will be just fine.

when we were dismantingfor parts we always pulled the entire shaft out in one peice .there are two 9/16s bolts on bottom of x in center of frame .an alternative would be to tape u joint and wrap end of shaft in plastic bag tying end of shaft away from rearend ,to a frame memmber.
