Did Chevy make a heavy duty 3 speed manual for the V-8 passenger car in 1962?
I have a 62 Belair wagon born with a 6 cyl which was replaced with a period correct 409 in 98. Original 3 speed left in car. Looking for a heavy duty 3 speed to keep things correct. Was a heavy duty 3 speed available, where can I find one?

the 6 cyl trans has a smaller shaft behind the splines that go in the clutch.the 8 cyl has the same size shaft as the splines in the clutch.other than a possible gear ratio change they are the same except the input shaft. my opinion from hollander interchange manual 30th edition.

If they did they would have come in the police or taxi or 409 cars. You can stay period correct by also going to the close ratio 4 speed.
