What is the most convienent and cheapest auto trany to use in my 305ci GM Firebird.

The cheapest way is go to a junkyard and buy a used tranny from a v-8 Chev. It is a TH700 unless it was changed. You can do a th350 but there are minor computer isses as well as relocating th rear tranny mount about 3.5 inches closer to the front of the car. ( change crossmember )
