would a old nash heatercore be of value to someone restoring, or is it of scrap value only?

If it is just the core a true nash purist might go for it. You might find a nash car club site and post it there. Or find someone who does the ebay thing. Most likely a heater core is more easily replaced than repaired in radiator shops. If all else fails it is scrap, but it breaks my heart to see all the "old stuff" go to scrap.
