do I need a voltage regulator with a alternator? I have a 61 GMC with 305 V6

dman
depends on the alternator, some have a built in voltage reg., most dont however so yes you would need one.

The best way to get around this ,is to install a one wire alternator,very simple and one less part to go bad!
