what transmission fits in a 66 fairlane besides the original 3 speed

is the vehicle a six cylinder or v8 eng. You can but what you would like behind it. As long as the bell housing will fit. I beleave the 6 cyl, and small block take the same bell housing. Big's block's are different.
And if you have cross member problem's, have one made to fit. So you can but a newer trans in a older car. good luck.
