I am looking at two different body shops one lap welds and the other butt welds. You can guess which is more expensive. Is there a good method to lap welding that will prevent possible rust?

the factory seams are usually lap welded . a sealer for seams could be used to keep moisture out .por 15 is a good product for this ,using it on one of my toys now .seal from both sides is best idea .
