according to the STANDARD CATALOG OF AMERICAN CARS 1946-1975 all camaros came standard with strato-bucket front seats . either your car was special ordered or soneone changed the seat at a lattrf date.the bench seat was not shown as an option.

sharris, how stock is the car? If it hasnt been all picked apart you may want to try and locate a build-sheet, chances are it is allready gone but you never know... look under the rear seat, atop the glove compartment box, even heard of them being stuck under the carpets. If you were to find this it would indicate if the car was a special order!

Also, as previously mentioned, I am pretty sure they all came with buckets so if someone did put a bench seat in it they would have had too either modify the seat brackets or the floor board mounting brackets. Have you carefully inspected these areas?

Known as RPO87 a total of 50,461 units were built, none were built for the convertible.
Colors were limited to gold ,black, turquoise and ivory....I do not have a specific # for the 396 car. (Sorry)
