help decoding my vin 1962 chevy II nova
The vin decoder says Chevy II Nova, L6(sometimes 283 V8)... How do I know what engine and trans it came with from the factory?

You cannot decipher the options or what your Nova left the factory with based on the VIN. Chevrolet never kept record of this, unlike Pontiac's.

If you could send me some pictures of the motor mounts, the carburetor, the body tag numbers on the firewall, and the
VIN tag numbers I might be able to look it up in a book I've got that has a brake down. Also the ID numbers on the engine would help to find out if it is what came in it. The 6cyl. ID is stamped on a pad behind the distributor on the right side of the engine block.
