67 Mustang shifting speed
My wife has a 1967 Mustang with a 6 cylinder. The cars runs fine, but it doesn't shift into drive (3rd) until she reaches over 60 mph. The RPMs drop after that and run low until the speedometer drops to around 35, then it will downshift into 2nd. Is this normal, or is it time to send the tranny to the shop? I drove a 65 in high school...but cannot remember if it did the same thing.

As far as I remember it should be shifty be for 60 mph,it might be a simple as the shifting rod or cable { depend which it has} that goes from the carb linkage to the trany needs to be adjusted or it may be unhooked. I wish I had the right answer for ya,do you have a trany guy you can trust? if so ask him to look at the linkage...
