1977 Firebird Formula with 403 olds motor
I am rebuilding the side and nose of my wife's bird and had top replace the hood as well as door front fenders and so I bought a used shaker hood and the height is too low form the shaker to protrude thru the hood I sure could use some air cleaner component pix so I can compare what I have and see what can be done. The air cleaner has a 1 inch or 3/4 inch spacer now but the shaker is about 2 1/2 inches from the hood.

Yup I did and it still does not solve my dilema the shaker on mine is way to low and the shaker in the pix at thasgt site does not show me the air filter housing nor the thype of spacer used between the carb "4 barrel rochester" and air cleaner housing to give me the right hieght to have the shaker atr least portrude thru the hood opening. My shaker sits way low in the hood opening.

I've seen pictures of this guy's 78 trans am that had to modify the air cleaner so it would set level. Maybe that will help. There is pictures and a video on his website. www.wqik.net

Those pix also show aq highrise intake . I have someplace a carb adapter that could possibly be turnede into a spacer. I will search for it and take outn the studs and drill it thru and make a spacer out of it.
