Why is my volt meter jumping?
1970 pontiac gto 400 engine The volt meter needle is jumping. All the lights on the car " headlights-taillights-dashlights " are brightening and dimming with the jumps. I'm asking this question before i start buying parts " alternator-voltage regulater ". This problem started about a week ago. The needle jumps with the lighs on or not. It also jumps at all rpm's In drive or park. Has anyone seen this before?

Thank you! I replaced the alternater and the voltage regulater and found corroded conections on the voltage regulater. The parts store also said the alternater was bad. I replaced everything and cleaned the conections and everything is fine now.
