its a 1966 chevy truck, 6 cyl manual ever thing I put in a new thermastate did not help . can u tell me how to locate the problem . waterpump seems to be working but weak I believe it to be a 230 or 250 moter would that matter?

Make sure your heater control valve is open. some are vacuum and some are mechanical with cable. When you move the heater control on the dash to hot that should move the cable or supply vacuum to the Heater Control. Your engine of course should be at operating temp around 180-200 degrees. Hopefully you didn't get a bad thermostat or installed backwards. All chevy engines can use the same thermostat, 230, 235, 250, 292, 265,283, 348, 350.

Hi, also try switching the hoses going to the heater, there is a correct way that they connect. Hope this helps, Wade
