I own a Chevy malibu 66. The car series # in the VIN and in the body plate are diferent.
I own a Chevy Malibu 1966, Sport Coupe, 6 cylinders, 230 Cu Inches.
VIN: 135176B180901
Body Plate: 66 13617BAL19270
Is this possible that the series number to be different???? I mean, in the VIN, the series number is 80900 (the result of 180901 minus 100001) and in the body plate is: 19270.
Would you explain this to me please? THANKS

the serries # is the 13517 the 6 is the year the B is where the car was built = BALTIMORE the last 6 didgets on vin =vin # for car , the last 5 on data plate are the # of bodies that were made in BALTIMORE. Everything is more than likely correct.

I feel the vin, and body plate numbers should match. This, is how the police identify stolen part's. The chop shop would part a stolen car out. But the body parts would have the same vin #'s as the vin plate. All numbers should be the same, on every body part. Its the Law.
