I have lost my Vin Tag and Cowl tag while I was doing a resto that has been stalled for about 7 years now, I do have the title but thats it. So i have two questions, should I try to find a junked 62SS car and by the title/tag and get a bill of sale, or should i retagged by the Missouri state troopers? I have looked around with no luck finding a tag and cowl, I have found repop websites for the cowl but thats it. thanks in advance

By having the State Patrol check out your car to verify it is not stolen, they will then place a D.O.R. tag on your vehicle( Department Of Revenue ),the then assigned # will no longer reflect an original V.I.N.
The VALUE of your car has just dropped BIG TIME. So unless this is a numbers matching high $$$ 409 loaded with options car, you will have to pick your lesser of two evils.
may be better to let the trooper just re tag it or look under dash behind glove box some are stamped by heater box on firewall good luck
