from STANDARD CATALOG OF AMERICAN CARS .ABOUT THE TIMETHAT THE NEW CONVERTIBLE APPEARED,A CAR CALLED THE MONZA SPYDER BEGAN RECIEVING ATTENSION IN THE PRESS.ONE SUCH CAR WAS TESTED IN POPULAR SCIENCE MAG.APRIL 1962 AND MOTOR TREND MAG GOT ITS HANDSON ANOTHER.TECHNICALLY SPYDER EQUIPMENT WAS ANOPTIONS PACKAGE FOR THE MONZA CONV AND CPE.AT LEAST THATS THE WAY IT WAS CATALOGED IN 1963,BUT MOST PEOPLE THOUGHT IT WAS A NEW MODEL.IN EITHER CASE THE PACKAGE INCLUDED A SPECIAL 150 HP ,TURBOCHARGED VERSION OF THE CORVAIR ENGINE,PLUS CROSS- FLAGS ID BADGES ON THE REAR DECK.IT WAS NOT AVAILABLE ON CARS WITH AC OR THE 2 SPEED AUTO TRANS.PRODUCTION WAS16569 MONZA CONV .CONV WITH TURBO 2574.CPE 151738.CPE WITH TURBO 6894.
