Have a 66 Fairlane Vin#6H46Z------. Most books only show 76C or D.Both are convertable 500XL`s
This one has bucket seats, glass rear window,floor shift C6/counsel and 390 h/p. What`s the differance between the 76.and the 46 I`ve found the 46 in two sorces but no explanation

HOLLANDER INTERCHANGE MANUAL shows code 46 being FAIRLANE CONV. [500 XL ]. engine code Z being 8-390 4bc carb 315 hp.. sounds like a real hot rod.

You may have a GT version of the Fairlanes, I also have a Fairlane convertible, but mine is a 67 500 XL (76c). You should check out the library section of oldride.com, it contains a lot of information, hope i have been of some sort of help, Mercnut.
