Replaced 305 with 350 BY MISTAKE!
I bought a used 305 off ebay. While putting the motor in, I noticed a marking on the block. Researched it and found out it was a 350, not a 305. Did an interchange, and almost everything is a match-- TBI, Alternator, knock sensors, distributor, etc. What kind of problems will I encounter tryhing to run the 350 motor off the 305 cnntrol module. The 350 is from a 91 Van (Doner Motor). replacing a 305 in a 89 caprice.

Get a computer for a 350 you should be fine use timing setting for for the 350.

I wouldn't worry about changing the computer, An 89 wont know if its a 305 or 350. as long as your using the parts from the car, ie...TBI, Alternator, knock sensors, distributor, etc....those older computers are stupid... Except when they screw-up then they are a real pain in the a_ _. Then again get the other computer just in case yours craps out. at least you have a spare, & save some $$$$$$. Since a computer for that isn't going to be cheap.

I would run it as is ,changing the E.C.M on the older vehicls is not neccesary,there would be such a small change for the 305 & the 350 you would never notice!!

here is the outcome. you need to use 350 injectors, ESC Module and 350 knock sensor.
tbichips.com has good info on all matters of gm small block TBI, ignition, etc.
They seem to me the best source on the web for all things related to sbc tbi, ignition, etc.
