Your best bet aside from an appraisal is to get a copy of the "Old Cars Price Guide", which is a magazine-type periodical available at better, fully-stocked magazine newsstands. They come out monthly, and they have current auction prices for each year, make, and model that they report on, based upon condition, which is price 1 thru price 5, 5 being the best. They give you hints as to what comprises a price 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5, based upon condition, such as "miinor scratches" or "not running", to give you extremes. I have always used the Old Cars Price Guide to review the current value of my classic car from which to justify the current value I want to insure my car at, and have never had any problem using it as a gauge for my car's value to my insurance company. . . They have annual subscriptions to the magazine, but if you aren't in car collecting very deeply, you probably wouldn't need one every month.
