these tires are the ones that have 1/2 black strip at the bead before the whitewall starts, any help would make my day hope I can return the favor someday

have you tried cokertire.com ? they make a lot of lookalike tires that are better than they were in the past.

Yes - I recently bought a 1978 Chrysler New Yorker w/ the original Firestone radials. Just replaced them with Coker American Classics (http://www.jegs.com/i/Coker+Tire/257/700215/10002/-1) - these tires have the proper whitewall width. Also - Diamondback carries proper tires (http://www.dbtires.com/2011_catalog/2011catalog_Hi.pdf, page 12). Good luck!
