What should be used for a 1971 malibu vinyl roof? It has black mold that is a problem.
The top is blue in color and I don't want to use anything too abrasive. I have used carwash and a scrub brush but it is still pretty gross. I don't know if it is mold or just caked on dirt that has managed to get into the crevases. After it is clean what should I put on to restore the luster/ shine if possible?

I was told a few years ago, that scrubbing it with egg whites removes mold and the years of grime on leather or vinyl. A friend had gotten white leather buckets for his 65 Pontiac convertible that had black like mold on them and he said it worked. Just my thoughts ..Right or wrong..

Here is a good website with instructions and precautions when cleaning mold.

I have used a foaming type bathroom cleaner and soft bristle brush on vinyl before without damaging the finsih. Best bet on what to use after cleaning to protect it would be asking someone who works with upholstery.
