serial numbers changen to v.i.n, numbers
i have a 46 chev 1/2 ton pickup truck with an i.d. plate that has a serial number on it the model #1314, serial #6131413434. engine#c130481. body#1369. trim#392. paint#631. now my question is how do you read this as to a vin style of information as where it was built, year, etc. i have seen some sites as to where they have a v.i.n. break down as we use to day for the older years but this is the information i have on the i.d. plate. is their some one to shed some light on how to break down this serial number to say this is the year .etc. email at brgruning@yahoo.ca or phone 403 504 6247. thanks

there should be a CK [ early ] or DP [ late ] in the serial number . if you look at the number it will brake itself down 6 [ model year ] 1314 model ,and 13434 vin number . this is a guess only , but it jumped out at me.
