390 build. How can i up the compression on a standard bore 390 gt block without new pistons?
I am building a 67 390 gt motor. Do not have the funds to stroke and go all out. Is there a way to up the compressiom
to get more power out of what i have. Will be running a 427 2x4 intake, want to make sure the 390 can burn the gas.

Have .020"- .025" shaved off of the heads, That might not sound like much ,but it will be better than doing nothing and cost is not that much.
You may want to contact one of the speed catalogs, and see what head gasket thickness' are available, you can go with a thinner gasket than original save some $$ instead of having the heads milled.
Just make sure you use a good machine shop !!
Good luck on your project.

make sure you have enough cam for carbs being used and a good ignition system 390s don't rev high to get tourqe so ignition and cam timing can make big difference as well as having right trans and rear end. with out doing all the right things even higher compression wont help i have done several 390s and they are good engines even still have pistons and other parts on shelf
