My wife inherited a 1951 2 dr. chev deluxe. on the fire wall is a plate that says style no 51-1037, body no. 186, paint no 464, top acc. Are these of any use? There is no title or license plates so I\'m assuming you need some kind of V.I.N.# to apply for a title. It has an inline 6 cyl. where would the # be on that?

To apply for a title, you will want to contact your local DMV.
Serial #’s on the 51 were stamped on a plate on the left front door hinge pillar.
Engine #’s are stamped on the right side of block near fuel pump.
The Fisher Body number plate on the right-hand side of the cowl gives the body style # - including the body production sequence #, the trim number code and the paint number code.
According to the details you provided Style # 1037 is a 2dr pillarless hardtop coupe.
The original factory price was $1,914 and total production was 103,356.
Paint code # 464 = Fathom Green/Aspen Green
The Inline 6-cylinder transmission – vehicles with Powerglide transmission had a special script, denoting this feature on deck lids.
