i have a 72 lincoln mark 4 that i purchased awhile ago.it will only start if turn key to on and cross the starter motor with screwdiver.the steering column has pieces missing and the key does not turn back far enough to lock steering wheel and when i turn the key to start it turns the warning lights on and all i hear is a faint click.also i am looking for someone in the area of mississauga/brampton/toronto who would be willing to help me with the restoration of the interior and some mechanical work on my car for a fee of course any and all help would be appreciated

neutral safety switch is either missing not adjusted right or bad should be on bottom of column by fire wall tab on end of key tumbler may be worn but most likely it is either safety switch or adjustment of actual ignition switch that is also on lower column. long ways from your place to my shop in south Dakota USA or i would help good luck
replace steering column, sounds like the little bar the key turn is bent so it can't ingage or dissengage
