Think this was their only option really. I forget who said it but someone said "This country is 7 Trillion in debt and yet we still have a checkbook, why?". Same with Chrysler, who was still loaning them money when they were that far in the red and why?
Time to get back to reality, if you dont have the cash in hand to buy something, dont buy it...

Obviously the saying "Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it." doesn't register with the automobile industry. It seems like the government is always bailing them out.

I also read that FIAT is becoming a major shareholder in the company, FIAT..... Didnt they disappear around the 70's? What have they been producing which has kept them in the green all this time?

I had never even heard of Fiat until now. Do you think President Obama is handling everything well?

Chrysler partner with FIAT? Does anyone at Chrysler not remember it cost GM something like $1.5 billion to terminate a rediculous relationship with FIAT. This was only 4 years ago...

Such is the ebb and flow of the auto industry. Don't you remember that Chrysler was saved from bankruptcy in 1979 by $1.5 billion in federally backed loans after chairman Lee Iacocca convinced congress that it was too important to fail?

That's like asking what do I think about the Republican push for deregulation of Wall Street and no one using any gray matter to bother asking why was it regulated in the first place. You can thank Senators Phil Gramm and John McCain along with the rest of the repoopican party for this recession.
