I just made a down payment on a '66 Mustang GT 2 dr coupe- serial # 6F071303181 In reading the data plate specs for '66 Mustangs , I read that there should be a letter code in the 5th field for engine type, either C, T, A , or K My data plate has a " 1" instead. Also, I cannot find out from the websites I have tried what the GT options included in the '66 - this car I am referring to has a GT lettering along the rocker panels, a pony interior, and other options that may be part of the GT option How do I know I am buying the ' real deal ' ?

I AGREE THERE SHOULD BE A LETTER THERE.THE VIN SHOULD BE STAMPED ON THE INNER PANELS OF FRONT FENDERS BY THE SHOCK TOWERS .COMPARE THAT NUMBER TO THE TITLE [ OR PINK SLIP ] THE NUMBER THERE IS THE SAME AS SHOULD BE ON PAPER WORK.SEE YOUR FROM CALIFORNIA,THEY USED THE DATE THE CAR WAS FIRST TITLED AS THE MODEL YEAR FOR CAR .
