The truck is an 85 C10 however I don't know where the engine came from. Its an eight cylinder with a two barrel carburetor attached. Is there a standard location where identification numbers are often placed?

If you have a true 1985 Chevy engine, the engine number location is on the pad at the right hand side of the cylinder block at the rear of the distributor (6 cylinder) or located on pad at right front side of cylinder block (V8).
