The S-22 stood for Comet Special Series. What this included, was 6 taillights instead of 4, a medallion above the trim on the roof panel and red wheel rims. Interior came in vinyl and included bucket seats in the front with a storage console between them. Other additional features included back up lights, whitewall tires and loop-yarn carpeting.

I believe the S22 came in two different body styles as well - the 2 door sedan and the 4 door Station Wagon.

The S-22 was also available on the convertible in 63'. That is what I have and while the 62 and 63 were very much alike, 63 was the only year they made a convertible before the major redo in 64. That's mine in my avatar.
