axle length and diameter
My hubby has a 1979 El Camino Royal Knight. He needs to know what the length and diameter is on the axle of an 81-82 Trans Am/Firebird with 3:08 posi traction with disc brakes and the same info is needed for a 1979 El Camino

the 79 elcamino axle has 26 spline and is 28.5 inches long with 10 bolt cover 7.5 inch ring gear.if it has 8.5 inch gear it has 28 splines and is30 7/16s long the firebird with disc has 28 spline axle7.5 in ring gear length is30 5/16. these specs came from a axle catalog. i cannot say the bearing size is same or not ,but a check at a local parts store will give the answer to bearing part # ref KABLETRUCK&AUTO PARTS RECYCLERS POWER SOURCE PUB.
