Perhaps a switch attached to the pedal brackets under the dash? I am going on memory here, I dont have my books off the shelf but I thought their was a small switch on the brackets which bolt to the column or maybe pivot of the pedal??

On my 1964 ford f100 the switch was on the master cyclinder.

Could be a pressure activated switch. Look along the brake line and at the outlet of the master cylinder for this switch...hope this helps.

Just had to replace the brake light actuator switch on my 65. It's on the master brake cylinder. Cost was about 6 bucks and took me about 2 minutes to replace. Be ready to do it quickly though or you may lose considerable brake fluid.
