1971 Ford F-100
Consumers could choose from four levels of luxury including the Ford Ranger XLT and Explorer Special when they ordered a 1971 Ford Truck. The XLT package included wood-tone accents, thick pile carpeting, deep cushioned seats, plus AM/FM stereo and air conditioning. The ‘Explorer Special’ was available with a choice of 4 equipment packages that allowed for special savings on air conditioning, power steering, Cruise-O-Matic transmission and included a choice of 3 color keyed interiors. Also available is the Ford Heavy Duty Special with heavy-duty front springs, battery, alternator, ammeter, oil pressure gauge, sturdy rear step bumper and dual bright Western swing-lock mirrors. The F250 was equipped with power brakes and Flex-O-Matic rear suspension which helps for a smoother ride. The Styleside had double-wall side panels and tailgate, flat top wheel housings and an all-steel floor. The Flareside had running boards between the cab and rear fenders. The F350 had a cargo capacity of 74 cubic feet, almost 10 more feet than the F250, and a standard manual transmission. The capacity of the F350 and the low loading height make it a popular choice for 9 to 12 ft stake or van bodies.1971 Ford Production Numbers
