1952 Studebaker Commander
1952 marked the 100 year anniversary of Studebaker's additions to the roadways. The Studebaker Champion and Commander V8 competed in the 1952 Mobilgas Economy Run and took first and second respectively in actual gas mileage, ahead of all standard class cars. A redesign also came about in 1952. The billet nose grille was replaced by a low toothy grille that was dubbed the "clam digger." Approximately 84,849 Studebaker Commanders were built.1952 Studebaker Commander Specification and Production
